Directory Browsing
When accessing a directory (rather than a page) on your site, a visitor will typically see the index page for that directory. If no index page exists, the browser will display a list (or index) of the files in that directory.
Using this feature, you can enable an index to appear to visitors who access a given directory. You can also turn off indexing, if you don’t want a directory’s contents to be visible.
Setting up and turning off directory browsing
To enable or disable browsing of a directory, click the directory's
name. In the pop-up window, click the
Enable Directory Browsing or
Disable Directory Browsing button.
- The
icon denotes a directory with browsing enabled. Visitors will be able to see the directory's contents.
- The
icon denotes a directory with browsing disabled. Visitors will not be able to see the directory's contents.
Locating a subdirectory
To navigate through a directory in order to find a subdirectory, click the folder icon corresponding to the directory you wish to open.
When you locate the subdirectory you want to configure, follow the instructions above.
